Description of Test for Herpes HSV-1 and HSV-2

We are proud to introduce our latest addition to the lineup - the fast and reliable test for Herpes HSV-1 and HSV-2.

Difference between HSV-1 and HSV-2:

Herpes simplex virus (HSV) is a common and contagious infection that is divided into two types: HSV-1 and HSV-2. HSV-1 is typically associated with oral herpes, which can cause blisters around the mouth and lips. On the other hand, HSV-2 is usually associated with genital herpes, meaning blisters and sores can occur around the genital area or anus.

What causes herpes?

Herpes spreads through direct contact with infected blisters or sores. It can be transmitted through sexual contact, including vaginal, oral, and anal sex. Additionally, HSV-1 can be transmitted through kissing, shared food or drinks, and by touching an active herpes blister. It's important to be aware that herpes can be contagious even when there are no visible blisters or symptoms.

What are the symptoms of herpes?

Herpes can manifest in various ways, but common symptoms include painful blisters or sores on the genitalia, anus, or around the mouth. Infected individuals may also experience itching, burning, and swelling in the affected area. Some people may feel general malaise, headache, fever, and muscle aches during a herpes outbreak.

Does the test distinguish between IgM and IgG? I understand that it distinguishes if you have antibodies to the virus and if the virus is currently present, right?
The store replied

This test measures exactly as you say IgM and IgG.

IgM is usually the first antibody produced by the immune system when a virus attacks.

A positive IgM test indicates that you have recently been infected or that your immune system has begun to respond to the virus.

IgG are the antibodies that remain in the blood after an infection has passed.
